Corey's Story

Corey’s greatest loves were his family, his faith, his country, and his dogs. Our mission is to honor his legacy by giving back to the people and causes that brought him joy and to those he served with unwavering faith and dedication. We will support churches, fire and rescue organizations, Doberman rescues, and many more meaningful causes.

Corey and his wife Helen met in Kindergarten. They were friends all through school. When they were both 16, they started dating. Corey also joined the Buffalo Twp Volunteer Fire Dept at that time. After graduating in 1992, Corey joined the Army. When he returned, Corey and Helen made wedding plans and were married on July 22, 1995.

Their first dog came shortly after. They have 2 Daughters: Allyson Comperatore (who is engaged to be married this July 26, 2025) and Kaylee Comperatore, 24. One of the things Corey was most looking forward to was having grandchildren. Corey was very involved with his girls and never missed a soccer game or a cheerleading competition. Helen says that due to some strains in their marriage, they both decided to go back to church after almost 25 years of not going anymore. Corey grew very deep in his faith as did their marriage. Helen calls him the "perfect husband."

Confetti Stars in Sky

On July 13th, 2024, Corey was so happy to be going to the Trump rally with his whole family. He dropped his beloved dogs, Negan and Ivan, off at his mom's house for the day.

He was laughing and joking around with everyone in the stands and sharing his "useful knowledge" with everyone. When the shots rang out, Helen turned around and was looking right into Corey's eyes when he was hit. She knew he was gone instantly. While Corey's death was tragic, and no wife or child should ever, ever have to witness that, Corey's life was beautiful. Corey loved his family deeply, and they knew it every day.

Corey's love for God was evident in everything he did.

Giving CPR to his neighbor, pulling a deer off the road that was hit and holding her head in his lap and praying for her, and if you were really special, you got to go fishing with him in his boat.

That's where Corey talked to God the most. Helen would like to thank everyone who touched Corey's life whether it would be at JSP every day, at the firehall, church, or just in passing and made him feel like he had a friend. Corey was so humble; he didn't think he had a friend in this world. His family is hoping he is looking down and loving all the support he and the family have received.
